A chronograph is a type of wristwatch with two time scales, usually one for displaying hours and the other minutes. It has both analog hands and digital displays that can be used to measure elapsed times in either direction as well as split-second increments.

The "benyar watches origin" is a watch company with its headquarters in Switzerland. It was founded by the Benyar family and has been producing high-quality timepieces since 1864.

Review of a Benyar Chronograph

Don't know anything about Benyar or have never heard of them?

And neither did I. In reality, I had no idea whatsoever when I initially learned about this watch brand.

You begin to doubt if these things even work when you consider both this and the astoundingly cheap cost of their timepieces.

But you'll be amazed when you look closely at the watches themselves and what you receive for your money (spoiler alert: you spend less than $50 in most instances, perhaps less). Or maybe even startled. I was, I'm sure.

The key issue is if the watches are any good since they appear fantastic despite not being Rolex or even Seiko.

Features of the Benyar Chronograph

Although I will focus on one particular model in my evaluation, the most of the criticisms are applicable to the whole line. To demonstrate what you might expect from such a low-cost watch maker, I merely wanted to showcase one particular example that is their most popular on Amazon.

Examining the specifications is one of the easiest methods to judge such things:

  • Quartz movement made in Japan (probably Seiko)
  • mineral crystal resistant to scratches (Seiko Hardlex)
  • stainless steel case, 43 x 15 mm
  • Pin-buckled genuine leather strap
  • 100-foot (30-meter) water resistance (splash proof)
  • Chronograph with three subdials (minute, second, and 1/10th second)
  • 3 o'clock date window

Therefore, what you can currently get for this little money is a bit absurd. Similar watches cost several times as much.

Since Japanese quartz movements are the best, you receive one with this watch, which should last you for many years. The glass is Seiko Hardlex, one of the most scratch-resistant options available that isn't Sapphire, which is quite expensive.

I also wonder whether the quartz movement is Seiko given that they utilize Hardlex. It was, according to one youtuber I watched, but I was unable to find any specifications for it.

Additionally, a working 3-dial chronograph with a date window and stopwatch-style functionality is included. A real leather strap is also included.

In addition, they have hundreds of alternative models available on Amazon if you don't like this specific watch.

The Dial

There are many lovely details on this specific chronograph model from Benyar. They have given a great deal of consideration to the minor details, starting with the three sub-dials for the chronograph with 1/10, seconds, and minutes.

Another pleasant surprise and contemporary touch is the tachymeter ring that surrounds the edge of the dial on this watch.

Also appealing to me are the red accents on the seconds dial as well as the second hand and subdial tips. Such features always give the watch's appearance a unique touch.

The hands and hour markings are rather unremarkable, yet this fits with the watch's general design.

The Case & Strap

One significant aspect of this watch that you should be aware of is that it rests rather high on the wrist. It is not the tiniest watch available, with a case diameter of 43mm and a case size of 15mm.

The trendy brown leather strap with a nubuck texture, which you either love or detest, is accented by the stainless steel case and chrono buttons.

However, Benyar also makes this watch and its siblings in full stainless steel if you detest leather. So if you don't like or don't want leather, don't be put off by the strap.

To demonstrate, I've included it below in a picture. Black and made of steel. The basic watch is the same, yet it looks completely different, right?

Continuing to Watch

You get a Japanese (likely Seiko) Quartz movement with this watch, as I have previously indicated, so it will keep on ticking for a very long time. You just need to replace the batteries around every few years.

This watch has a working chronograph, which is a good bonus to something so reasonably priced. The second hand runs on the sub-dial and is rather difficult to see, which is the sole drawback when compared to high-end watches. On more costly timepieces, the stopwatch's second hand counter often makes use of the main second hand, which is clearly much larger and simpler to see without having to strain your eyes.

Waterproofing was the final point I wanted to address. When purchasing a watch, this is often a major concern, and Benyar usually just accomplish the bare minimum. They must, after all, find a way to save money. You get 30m, or splash proof in waterproofing terms. So maybe you can wash the dishes with it, but you can't swim with it.

Color Choices & Style Options

Benyar has gone crazy with the possibilities they provide online, albeit not all of them are, of course, on Amazon. However, a wide range are. Some of them are listed below.

If one piques your attention, just click the picture to be taken directly to Amazon.

For Whom Is The Benyar?

Benyar is unquestionably a watch to take into consideration if you're seeking for a very, very economical timepiece with a contemporary design.

Yes, they are pretty affordable and not produced by Rolex or even Hamilton, but with high-quality Japanese components inside and positive Amazon ratings, I don't believe you can find anything much better for less than $100. (or even under 50 in most cases).

Look at the styles they have listed above, go to Amazon, and I'm sure you'll find one you like as well.

The "benyar company" is a company that creates watches. They have many different types of watches to choose from and all are made with quality materials. The reviews on the website are positive, so you can be sure that you will be happy with your purchase.
