30 Best Dive Watches under $300 Most Updated Buying Guide, FAQs, and Reviews

Before this guide, we have developed extensive buying guides on dive watches selling for under $200, and premium automatic dive watches also. However, the best dive watches under $300 start to offer way more functionality and features at the slightly extended price range.

Of course, that is not the upper echelon of dive watches seeing as Rolex makes dive watches in the tens of thousands of dollars range. That, however, does not mean you cannot get something decent on a budget.

1. Seiko 5 Automatic Watch

Sale
Seiko Men's 5 Sports Stainless Steel Automatic Watch with Nylon Strap, Black, 22 (Model: SRPE69)
  • Seiko's 4R36 mechanical movement beats at a frequency of 21,600...
  • Case Diameter: 40.0mm
  • The black dial includes a day/date calendar and stealthy black...
  • Stainless steel case with black ion finish and matching black...
  • Water-resistant to 10 bar, 100 meters (300 feet)

At this price range, a 100m water resistance rating seems more than decent.

We are especially interested in the automatic movement on this watch. Paired with a stainless-steel form factor and subtle yellow details on the bezel frame, this dive watch can be paired with a suit to go to dinners and other formal events anytime.

2. Glycine Men’s Automatic Watch

Glycine Men's Automatic Watch GL0089
  • Featuring a Blue Band, Silver-tone Case, Scratch Resistant...

Yet another automatic dive watch, Glycine plays around with colors on this one.

The bluish-black rubber strap on the watch blends well against the brighter blue bezel and deeper blue watch dial for a more wholesome feel.

The combat automatic watch features a date complication at the 3 O’clock mark for improved functionality and carries a 200m water resistance rating to boot.

Finished off with gold-tone accents on the hour markers and bezels, the watch is a beauty to gaze at.

3. Wenger Sea Force 3H Watch

Wenger Men's 'Seaforce' Swiss Quartz Stainless Steel Casual Watch, Color:Silver-Toned (Model:...
  • Swiss-made quartz sea force watch with sapphire coated mineral...
  • Rotating bezel
  • Swiss-quartz Movement
  • Case Diameter: 43mm
  • Water resistant 200m (660ft): in general, suitable for...

With such a bold name as Sea Force, 200 meters of water resistance is justified.

This quartz dive watch keeps things simple with the same silvery stainless-steel tone from the watch face to the bands. The difference comes in the dial which is a welcome black hue, extending into the unidirectional bezel.

With the swiss movement to boot and other color configurations to choose from, this one takes the cake too.

4. Casio G-Shock Mudmaster

  • From Casio G-Shock, the innovators of tough timekeeping, comes...
  • This watch features a carbon core guard structure case, in black...
  • Additionally, this watch connects via Bluetooth to a special...

The Mudmaster was made to get dirty and come out on top. This unit doesn't disappoint on any one of those fronts.

True to being a dive watch, this Mudmaster unit ships with a 200m water resistance rating. However, we are missing a bezel here which would have made the watch better functional.

In the absence of that, we have a calendar function, temperature sensor, and digital compass, among others.

Given how rugged Casio G-Shocks can be, this is the all-in-one outdoor watch that can be taken for hiking, hunting, fishing, and diving, among others.

5. Mares Puck Pro Plus Dive Computer

Mares Puck Pro Plus Dive Computer
  • Slim design for a perfect fit
  • Intuitive user interface with one-button simplicity
  • Logbook capacity 35 hours of dive profile at 5-second sampling...
  • Bottom timer mode with resettable average depth and stopwatch
  • Upgradeable firmware. User-replaceable battery

For the lovers of anything and everything digital, this is the ideal dive watch.

Unlike other dive computers, this one is not so specialized that you cannot wear it every day. It is, however, not designed to function as a dress watch either.

Under the hood of this watch are ascent indicators, fresh and seawater settings, power indicators, air and nitrox modes, and more.

With a selection of seven colors on board, this watch is great for men, women, and kids alike.

6. NEYMAR Men’s Diver/ Sport Watch

NEYMAR 41.5mm Men's Automatic Watch 300m Diver Watch 200m Stainless Steel Watch
  • 41.5X50mm 316 l stainless steel case with stainless steel metal...
  • japan NH 35 automatic movement with date indicator and analog...
  • watch total weight 200 g with solid 316 L stainless steel band...
  • water resistant 300 meters suitable for swimming & snorkeling
  • swiss BGW 9 blue color luminous hands &...

1,000 meters of water resistance!

We just had to say that first.

There is a low chance that you will be diving to a fifth of that depth, but it is good to know that your watch is tested to work under pressure – and it comes out tops.

That is not the only good thing here, though.

The watchmaker went the two-tone approach here, marrying silver and gold hues on the bracelet and around the black bezel. The watch dial maintains a black color too, carrying an extra date complication for improved functionality.

7. BLWRX Men’s Diver Watch

BLWRX 45mm Men's Japanese Automatic 300m Diver Stainless Steel Watch(Father's Day Sale)
  • 45 mm X 53.8 mm 316 l stainless steel case with stainless steel...
  • japan NH 35 automatic movement with date indicator and analog...
  • watch total weight 220 g with solid 316 L stainless steel band...
  • water resistant 300 meters suitable for swimming & snorkeling
  • swiss BGW 9 blue color luminous hands & markers

Yet another diver’s watch with a 1000m water resistance rating. We just cannot get enough of them.

Unlike the Neymar unit above, this one also features an automatic movement. It could as well be the start of a family heirloom to have such a pressure-resistant, long-lasting watch.

Looking elsewhere, we also get the same two-tone design here. Not as stylish as the NEYMAR pick, we accept, but it doesn’t look bad either.

Did we mention the professional helium valve at 9H?

8. Seiko 5 Sports Automatic Watch

Seiko makes this list again with one of their finest watches to date.

The simplicity of design and uniform tone on the watch makes it best appraised as a dress watch. When you are not attending functions, though, it is sturdy enough to explore the coral reefs and spend some time with the sea life alongside you.

For that, never dive beyond 100m as stated on the watch face. Just like the first pick from Seiko, this one also features an automatic movement.

9. Oceanic Geo 2.0 Air/ Nitrox Computer Watch

Oceanic is not about to let Mares have all the fun with the dive computer game.

The watch can be set to display data in two standard forms – Pelagic DSAT or Pelagic Z+.

No matter which mode you prefer, you still get the same Nitrox mix configurations, a gauge function with timer, a nitrox timer feature, and data retention, among other things.

If you are simply concerned about the dive and would not mind anything else on the watch, this pick is yours for the taking.

  • FOR YOUR ACTIVE LIFESTYLE: This Citizen silver-toned military...
  • GUARANTEE & 5-YEAR WARRANTY: At Citizen, we stand by quality and...

Citizen outdid itself on this watch, adding a tachymeter to multiple chronometers and still slapping a bezel on board.

It is almost like they meant for the same watch to be an affordable aviator timepiece as much as they wanted it to be a diver.

We don’t recommend a watch with such a busy face as a dress watch, so you might have to look at others on this list if that the kind of dive watch you wanted. Otherwise, you are good to go with this pick.

Citizen rounds up the watch build with a system of push-able buttons on the side, a sturdy stainless-steel frame, and 100m water resistance to boot. They didn’t disappoint with their Eco-drive technology either so you never have to worry about the watch’s battery – ever.

11. Invicta Men’s 4186 Pro Diver Collection

  • Mineral crystal
  • Case diameter: 48 mm
  • Stainless-steel case; Orange dial; Date function
  • Water resistant to 990 feet (300 M):suitable for scuba diving to...

We would have loved this watch to come in smaller sizes so that we could recommend it for women also.

Although the bezel makes the watch wear smaller than it is, the size would still not apply to most women.

For men, though, we like the simplicity of this watch face. Carrying an orange dial might be a dealbreaker for some. The good news is that the dial fits in just fine against the stainless-steel frame, bracelet, and black-toned bezel.

At the 3 O’clock mark, Invicta slaps on the only complication (a date window) that this watch packs.

12. Casio Women’s ProTrek Quartz Watch

Casio PRO Trek Quartz Watch with Resin Strap, Black, 18 (Model: PRG-300-1A4ER)
  • Tough Solar Power, Low Temperature Resistant, Triple Sensor, 100M...
  • Countdown Timer, Full Auto EL Backlight w/Afterglow, 12/24 Hour...
  • Quartz Movement
  • Case Diameter: 47mm
  • Water resistant to 100m (330ft): in general, suitable for...

It is rare to see a digital watch pack a bezel on top of it.

Well, not on Casio’s watch (all pun intended).

This tough watch brings all the features of an everyday Casio watch, promising you strength and durability in the same pack. Opting for solar power means that you never have to worry about charging the watch ever again – as long as you are using it outdoors.

The digital display is wide enough to display all that you need at a glance – the date, day, time, and hour of the day. Elsewhere, the watch comes with a temperature, barometer, and altimeter sensor, among other complications.

Rated for 100m diving, this is yet another beautiful pick for women to consider.

13. Glycine Combat Men’s Watch

Combat Mens Analog Automatic Watch with Silicone Bracelet GL0275
  • Featuring a Dark Blue Band, Silver-tone Case, Sapphire Crystal...

The silicone bracelet on this watch was the first thing to catch our attention.

These bands perform well in salt and freshwater alike, so you have nothing to worry about when going swimming, snorkeling, or diving.

A unidirectional rotating bezel worked perfectly into the watch face makes it even more beautiful. Combined with a 300m water resistance rating, it is little surprise why we like this one.

We would have thought a complication on this watch face would keep it too busy. Thankfully, Glycine managed that well with the small date window at 3 O’clock.

14. Luminox Sea Turtle Giant

  • Lighting Technology: Orange & green Luminox Light Technology on...
  • Details: Case diameter 44 mm, Case thickness 12 mm, Band length...
  • Trusted Quality and Warranty: Made in Switzerland, officially...

At 44mm – and considering the bezel too – this is one of the finest unisex dive watches under $300 on this list.

On the design front, Luminox pairs a nylon strap with a CARBONOX case material to ensure durability and ruggedness while keeping the watch lightweight.

We are especially a fan of the color schemes employed here, turning the watch into a tactical unit of its own.

With a 100m water-resistance rating in tow and swiss quartz movement under the hood, Luminox does a great job of keeping this unit at this price point.

15. REEF Tiger Automatic Dive Watch

Reef Tiger Super Luminous Dive Watches Mens Nylon Strap Automatic Watches with Date RGA3035...
  • Japan Seiko NH35A Automatic Movement
  • 44mm Solid 316L Stainless Steel Case
  • Anti-reflective Sapphire Crystal
  • Pure Black Dial with Luminous Markers, Date at 6:00
  • Nylon with Genuine Leather Strap

We admit that the REEF Tiger deviates from the norms of what we know dive watches for.

If you are a newbie to diving, please skip this section. Intermediate and pro divers who need a masculine watch to flaunt on their wrists while they explore the waters can take this one though.

We have never seen complications arranged so close together before – or this much on a single watch face.

A static bezel on the frame of this automatic watch spirals into the year and month display on the face. Below those complications are more for the date and day, as well as a timer chronograph.

It does tell the time, but it looks like it is there to take all the beating you are planning on throwing at it.

16. Citizen’s Leather Casual Watch

This watch comes with not just any bezel, but a tachymeter for improved usage.

We usually recommend watches with this complication for pilots and aviators, but this one can also be used by divers alike. Check out the video below to learn more about reading your watch’s tachymeter.

That said, this Eco-drive watch features a series of complications – from chronograms to a date window at the quarter-hour mark. For those who would like to pair a leather watch strap to their dive watch, this is your chance right here.

  • G-Shock is, designed to resist mechanical shock and vibration....

The entire Hawaiian Lifeguard Men’s association came together to commission a watch and that is what we have here.

Quite frankly, we don’t think there is any more proof of work we need from this model.

The 200m water-resistant watch preferred a rubber strap for better functionality, slapping on a watch bezel, and maintaining luminous hour markers/ watch dial.

They come quite colorful too, so this would be a fine choice for women and kids looking for a dedicated wristwatch for water sports.

At 42mm, it falls into quite the standard range for most people.

18. Luminox Black Ops 8880 Series Watch

Ooh! The Black Ops!

True to its name, the watch maintains a black finish and appeal all through save for the hour markers and hands.

Pairing a sturdy watch case with a rugged, unidirectional bezel is impressive. On the watch dial is a badge for the 200m water resistance rating, finished off with the watch branding and a date window elsewhere.

Generally, this legible diving watch gets the job done while doubling as a field/ outdoor watch at the same time.

19. Pantor Nautilus Dive Watch

  • Sport Watch can meet all your Daily wear demands. Please screw...

Pantor is no stranger to the dive watch niche, and they make their bow here with this 200m water-resistant unit.

As far as aesthetics go, it seems Pantor is not a big fan of the details, opting to focus on the functionally of the watch instead.

A colorful watch bezel defeats using this watch as a formal dress watch. Choosing the other color variants – especially the ones decked out in all black – should solve that problem.

Carrying a fan-like frame near the end, this watch could benefit from replacement straps/ bands when not used as a dive watch. Unless you’d prefer a rubber strap all through.

20. ORIENT Automatic Diving Watch

ORIENT Men's 'Mako II' Japanese Automatic Stainless Steel Diving Watch
  • Mineral crystal
  • Crown:Screwed-down.120-Click unidirectional bezel
  • Japanese-automatic Movement
  • Case Diameter: 41.5mm without crown. Lug width - 22 millimeters
  • Water Resistant 200m (660ft): in General, Suitable for...

It is automatic; it carries a 200m depth rating, and it is as stylish as they come.

ORIENT went all out with the watch, offering it in different color customizations especially focused on the watch dial.

Even with the date and day display, this watch still finds application as a dress watch, if you are so willing.

At just under 42mm, it is also highly suitable for most men and women with slightly larger wrists.

21. MOMENTUM M50 Professional Diver’s Watch

Right on the watch face, the M50 confirms that this is one for professionals.

At a 500m water resistance rating, you would think so too.

Elsewhere, Momentum opted for a nylon strap around the stainless-steel case of an ultra-tough design.

The hour markers and hands are also some of the most legible we have seen on any dive watch. Bonus points for being luminous enough to be seen in the dark and underwater.

For those who want to enjoy all that this watch brings to the table without going diving with it, MOMENTUM has you covered with optional designs focusing on the strap, dial, and overall finish of the wristwatch.

22. PHOIBOS Wave Master

PHOIBOS Wave Master PY010 300M Automatic Dive Watch Black
  • Sapphire crystal with anti reflective under coating
  • SII NH35A movement with 300M(1000ft) Water resistance suitable...
  • 15 layers Super-LumiNova BGW9 on hands, indices and bezel marking
  • Diameter 42.0mm lug to lug 48.5mm Thickness 14.0mm 316L Stainless...
  • 120-click unidirectional ceramic bezel

Everything about this watch – from the name to the basic design elements – reeks of a dive watch.

The Wave Master employs a wavy design on the watch dial to mimic water flow. Speaking of the watch dial, it plays home to the watch branding, the automatic movement information, and a 300m water resistance badge.

PHOIBOS went unconventional with the date display, opting to have it at the 6 O’clock mark instead. That, however, takes nothing away from the stylishness or functionality of the watch.

Decked out with its unidirectional ceramic bezel, we have all the makings of an affordable dive dress watch in this one.

  • Water-resistant to 100m (330 ft): In general, suitable for...

At 33mm, this is the ideal watch to introduce your kids to the diving and swimming world.

The watch is inexpensive enough that you can also use it to teach them how to best maintain a watch.

Of course, it doesn’t come with a bezel or a traditional watch face, but its 100m water resistance rating is more than enough for your kids. With this watch, they never have to worry about damaging it when taking a bath, going for a swim, or taking diving/snorkeling instructions.

Since it’s a digital reader, it is easier for them to tell the time on it. Make sure they don’t get too used to digital that they now struggle with analog though.

Perhaps one of the best diving watches under $300 for women, if not the best, is this one.

We have a reputable manufacturer on board so there is nothing to worry about there. The wristwatch continues with a beautiful stainless-steel frame and design which maintains a uniform silver color till we get to the brown watch dial/ bezel.

Speaking of the watch dial, Victorinox squeezes in three different chronographs for effect – and they all make the watch a better timepiece. At 100m of water resistance, the watch is almost a steal at this price point.

For a watch that carries ‘Splash’ in its naming, we are amazed to find out that it can attain 200m and not break under the pressure.

The watch face is as simple as they come, carrying only a date window thus making it suitable as a dress watch.

That is not the interesting thing about this watch, though. At 38mm, it can easily be the best dive watch for your kids.

Think about it – the watch comes with everything you would want on a dive watch, is rated professionally, and features a rubber band.

If there is any way to introduce your kids to the quality of proper dive watches and how to appreciate one without breaking the bank, this watch it is.

26. ArmourLite Operator Series Tritium Watch

  • Long-lasting illumination is made possible by tritium markers by...
  • Shatterproof Armourglass crystal and a lightweight carbon fiber...
  • 2-year warranty directly through ArmourLite Watch Company

We are yet to find a lot of users for this one as of the time of writing, but the watch looks like it could hold its own for extended use also.

This one will sit down right with lovers of black watches. There is almost no other color on board this timepiece from the bracelet to the watch face itself.

The armored glass on the watch face is deemed shatterproof. That is combined with long-lasting illumination and a swiss quartz movement under the board. To round up, the 100m water-resistant watch sports a beautiful unidirectional rotational bezel.

27. SUUNTO Core Alu Deep Watch

  • Weight - 2.79 ounce

First things first, this one is not a dedicated diver’s watch.

We see it more as an outdoor watch that can be taken with you when you’ll be doing a lot of outdoor activities within the same trip.

This watch is decked with all the important outdoor sensors – from an altimeter to a barometer and digital compass. We would have loved something better than a 30m water resistance rating, but that’s the price we pay for having every other cool stuff thrown in.

  • Water resistant to 50m (165 ft): In general, suitable for short...

The women here will love the stainless-steel design of this watch so much – even maybe more than we do.

Timex could have kept the silvery feel throughout but they opted to go with a combination of red and blue around the watch bezels, sticking with only blue on the luminous watch dial.

Of course, if you don't like that finish, you can get the watch in another color option. Note that the second option does not come with a bezel, which is an important consideration on a diver’s watch.

This watch has a lot of history behind it, being a reissue of a 1979 watch. At 38mm case diameter and 50m of water resistance, you can see why we prefer this choice for the ladies.

29. Citizen Men’s Promaster Altichron

We don’t think you should use this watch for anything other than the outdoors.

If you have it and you are keeping it locked up inside, you are wasting its potentials. It also features a face so busy that we don’t see why you would want this as a dress watch.

The choice of premium leather strap on the body is a welcome one for us. That means the watch is better protected in different water types.

We move up to the face where a unidirectional bezel is sitting pretty. There are still internal bezel inscriptions on the watch for improved functionality. On top of that, Citizen also adds a system of chronographs to measure distance/ depth.

At just one size, it is best suited for men and equally fine for women who don’t mind wearing a bigger watch.

30. Casio G-Shock Mudman G9000-1 Sport Watch

Sale
Casio Mudman G9000-1V Wristwatch
  • 200 M Water Resistance
  • G-Shock "Master of G" Mudman, features Shock & Mud Resistance
  • World Time (29 Time Zones / 48 Cities) with City code display /...
  • 1/100 Second Stopwatch (Measuring Capacity: 999:59'59.99")
  • Countdown Timer (Measuring Unit - 1 Second / Range - 24Hr)

Not your regular dive watch, no doubt, but it gets the job done too.

If not for the rather large case size, this would have been a fine watch for not only men and women but kids alike.

At 200 meters of water resistance, the watch holds its own well when in water. It backs that up with the usual shock resistance and a special mud resistance rating. On top of that, Casio breaks out its usual hollow face design and rubber exterior for this G-shock.

Speaking about the luminous watch dial, it is as legible as they come. At a glance, you get all of the time, date, and day.

Under the hood, the watch is complicated with a stopwatch, a countdown timer, multiple alarm systems, and world time, among others.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FAQ section is designed to give you answers to most burning questions about dive watches and to also help you make the best buying decision.

Even if a single question on here is what resonates with you, and helps you to make a better buying decision, it would have been worth it for us.

How about we get right into it.

What is the best affordable dive watch?

This depends on what you define as ‘affordable.’

If we were hard-pressed for an answer, we would pick the Seiko Men's SNE283 (check reviews here) for its practicality, functionality, and tons of customizable options at the price range it comes at.

For those who want more out of their dive watches, though, you would have to shell out slightly more money to get what you want.

Are steel dive watches any good?

As long as they are made by a reputable manufacturer.

Steel is susceptible to rust when exposed to water and oxygen. However, the ISO standards governing a standard dive watch dictate that the watch materials be chemically resistant so that it doesn’t react with salt (in saltwater) and other chemicals, or get given to rust attacks just as easily.

This is why you can take your steel dive watches to the waters and still bring them back to the boardroom like nothing is missing.

Can you swim with a dive watch?

Yes.

As long as it is rated to go deeper and you are just spending some time on the surface, your watch should be very fine.

Are dive watches durable?

The quality dive watches are as durable as they come.

Water pressure is no joke. Those who dive to deeper depths will tell you how it feels like they have huge loads piled on top of them.

If a watch can survive such a situation, you know that it is not one to break easily.

In other words, dive watches are made to perform under pressure.

Can you dive with a 200m watch?

By all means, yes.

The standard for a dive watch is about 50m. At that rate, a 200m-rated watch is four times the standard.

For context, most divers will only get to depths of about 20m while more advanced divers can attain close to 40m. Only highly professional divers attempt more and can achieve several thousand meters.

In fact, the record for the deepest dive goes to businessman Victor Vescovo who attained a depth of 10,927 meters below sea level.

Can you wear a diver’s watch with a suit?

As long as you can wear a Rolex with a suit and pair an Omega with a formal dress, why not?

Many people easily forget that the watchmakers mentioned above also make a decent selection of dive watches. And they are the ones you see top executives clamoring or, pairing them with their business wear all the time.

So, to answer your question again, you can.

On this list alone, we have multiple dive watches that are as dressy as they come. Some of them include the:

When you are willing to spend more to step up your wardrobe, take a look at this dressy diving watch guide that you can always take to the waters and back to close a multimillion-dollar deal.

Can you put a leather band on a dive watch?

Yes, but not any kind of leather band. Premium leather bands can hold their own better against water.

Although not recommended, leather does look great on a dive watch. It is even much better when the leather strap was slapped on by the manufacturer.

As an alternative, you can purchase replacement leather watch straps to pair with your dive watch when you are not using it near water.

That gives you the best of both worlds, allowing you to enjoy your normal watchband and the premium feel of a leather strap too.

Does anyone actually dive with a Rolex?

Yes – and Rolexes are the preferred watches for most saturation divers too.

Saturation diving is the top level for professional divers.

In these cases, the divers have to spend an extended amount of time underwater. Sometimes, up to a month at once.

Thus, they need a watch that can handle the pressure at the depths they stay at – and the ones they dive to. Fortunately, the Rolexes are built to capacity and can withstand such pressures at that depth.

For context, one of the many men who has gone diving with a Rolex (the Rolex Submariner) is Jason Heaton.

Is G-Shock a Dive Watch?

G-Shocks might be durable watches, but they are NOT dive watches.

They can take a beating, pack serious legibility and also have a solid water resistance rating on top. So, what’s missing?

Unfortunately, those are not the only factors for picking a dive watch.

For ozone, a standard dive watch should have a bezel/ any other measure of relative time. Neither is a mainstay in G-Shock watches.

That said, you can take a wide selection of G-Shock watches along when diving. We recommended some on this list:

We especially recommend Casio watches when you are combining a lot of outdoor activities, (including diving) into one. They are the ideal single watch to have without having to switch wrist gears for each different activity.

What watch can go the deepest?

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional Watch.

That is one mouthful.

When Victor Vescovo made his record-setting dive in May 2019, the submarine he was in had three of these watches attached to the outsides. That way, they are exposed to the prevalent pressure conditions to see how they would fare at such depths.

Omega strapped three watches to the submarine and they all came back working perfectly.

Note that this record was held by the Rolex Deepsea Special which accompanied former record-holders (Captain Don Walsh and Jacques Piccard) on their expedition.

What is the point of a dive watch?

Class. Functionality. Dressy-ness. Durability.

Besides the fact that they can be taken on dive adventures, dive watches provide way more class on the wrists than most other watches.

They used to be an exclusive club of watches designed for explorers only, so you know that it takes an exclusive club to own them.

Dive watches also have a lot of history behind them. They have been through a lot and they always come out on top in most cases.

That is why brands like Rolex and Omega can charge a premium for their dive watches.

Having a dive watch does not only spell class on you. It also tells how much you respect your watch history, gives you the added functionality (like the watch bezel), and stands out against a drab selection of watches around you.

Why are dive watches so big?

The primary aim of a dive watch is to be used underwater. Hence, the bigger frame ensures better visibility.

As you dive to deeper depths, visibility reduces and things might get blurred. With a larger than usual watch face, that loss in visibility is compensated for.

Likewise, every watch enthusiast knows that a bezel on their watch makes it wear smaller than it is. That is why a 42mm watch with a bezel can feel like a 40mm watch on the wrists.

With a larger size, manufacturers can compensate for this nominal loss in size too.
