Best Seiko field timepieces (That Will Last)
The use of field watches is increasing. And Seiko unquestionably has a lot to offer at relatively low costs. As a result, I'll show you four distinct Seiko field watches in this post that adhere to the rather nebulous "field watch" mentality.
If you have not previously read anything about these types of timepieces, they are typically:
- quite strong (shock and water proof)
- High contrast and big numerals/markers make it simple to read
- simplistic in its design (ie. no frills on the dial – chronographs and the like)
- usually include a durable a a a a nylon band for outdoor use.
Since this is not a standard, some watches will, of course, satisfy some but not all of these requirements. and maybe just partially meet some of them. Here are the four candidates for Seiko's top field watches, in any case.

The Seiko 5 line was developed specifically to make long-lasting timepieces, and the company is skilled at doing so. You can tell they'll make a fantastic field watch right away because to their five essential features: water resistance, an indestructible mainspring, a shock-resistant design, an automatic movement, and a day/date display. anything that's also referred to as a Seiko military timepiece.
Even though the Arabic numerals on the face are smaller than those on other field watches, they nevertheless display the hours and minutes, which makes keeping track of time a breeze. They are also very durable, comfortable to wear because to the Nato-style strap, and quite inexpensive. These watches sell like hotcakes, and it's no surprise!
This watch comes in a variety of hues, including the SNK805, 807, and 809 (blue, black, and green), if you'd like a different shade. You may click on some of the links I've included below to view the costs on Amazon.

The SNZG series is another Seiko 5 line that is comparable to the SNKs above. Although the military watch on display is beige, you can immediately see the difference between it and other watches.
First, the dial is two-toned, with the backdrop of the minute train being darker than the foreground. Additionally, it is much broader and easier to read. The hands have a more straightforward design, a roughly rectangular form, and plenty of lume.
In contrast to many Seiko 5s, which feature a smaller crown at 4 o'clock, this watch has a standard-sized crown at 3 o'clock. Not a major deal, but simpler to strike by mistake.

Over the last several decades, Seiko has made significant investments in solar-powered timepieces, and you can purchase a vast selection of them online. They are pleasant possessions since they need little to no upkeep and battery replacements during the course of the watch.
Their field watch-focused SNE series models feature a dial that is very clear and simple to read. The prominent features of this dial are the huge rectangular hour markers and the massive Arabic numerals every three hours. It is loyal to the field watch concept with the extremely crisp white on black.
Like many of the models in this review, it has a day/date window at three o'clock as well. Even yet, reading in low light could require a little squinting due to the font's size.

- Crystal Hardlex (scratch resistant)
- 3 o'clock day/date function

4. Seiko 5 - SRP623 & SRP625
- Automatic Self Winding Movement and Hand Winding
- Seiko 5 Sports Series with Canvas Band
- 100 Meters Water Resistance
The SRP623 and SRP625 are two more series of field watches made by Seiko. They resemble the SNKs I previously showed you in many ways. These are still another variation, although they are still Seiko 5 watches with automatic movements.
This time, the minute markers are placed on the outside train where they are readable but tiny, and the hour markers are quite simple to read.
Although the dial's contrast is extremely strong, it is not as spectacular as that of the SNEs above.
Our field watch is one of the biggest on this website at 44mm. Check out the SNKs above if your wrist is tiny.
