Introduction

Most people don’t think about the hands on their watch until they stop moving. Then, it’s time to replace them. In this article, we’ll show you how to replace the hands on your watch.

The first thing you need to do is remove the old hands. To do this, you’ll need a small screwdriver. Unscrew the minute hand at the base where it meets the second hand. Then, unscrew the second hand at the base where it meets the hour hand.

With the old hands removed, it’s time to install the new ones. First, screw in the new second hand at the base where it meets the hour hand. Then, screw in the new minute hand at the base where it meets the second hand. Be sure not to overtighten these screws, as you can strip them easily.

Once your new hands are installed, you can put your watch back together and enjoy its new look!

Tools You Will Need

-A watch case opener
-A set of watchmaker’s screwdrivers
-Tweezers
-A loupe or other magnifying glass

Preparing the Watch

Now that you have your new hands, it’s time to replace them. But before you begin, you need to make sure that your watch is in the correct position, or else you risk breaking the delicate movement. You will also need to remove any old hands that are still attached to the watch.

To do this, first place the watch face down on a soft surface like a piece of cloth or a towel. This will protect the watch from getting scratched. Next, use a small screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the second hand in place. Be careful not to lose these screws, as they are very small!

With the second hand removed, you should now see a small metal post sticking up from the center of the watch. This is called the arbor, and it is what the hands are attached to. Take your tweezers and grip the base of one of the old hands tightly. Gently pull on the hand until it comes off of the arbor. Repeat this process for all three hands.

Replacing the Hands

You will need to remove the old hands before you can install the new ones. To do this, first remove the watch face from the watch body. Be careful not to lose or damage any of the small parts that may come loose. With the watch face removed, use a pair of tweezers to carefully remove the old hands. You may need to use a small screwdriver to loosen them first.

Once the old hands are removed, you can install the new ones. Start with the minute hand, as it is usually longer and slightly heavier than the hour hand. Center it on the watch face and press it gently into place. Next, add the hour hand in the same way. Make sure that both hands are pointing in the correct direction before you replace the watch face.

If your watch has a second hand, it will be attached to the watch movement itself and will not need to be replaced. Simply reassemble your watch and enjoy your new look!

Finishing Up

Reassemble your watch, following the steps in reverse order. Start by attaching the minute hand, followed by the hour hand. Make sure that both hands are pointing in the correct direction before moving on. Once the hands are in place, you can screw the dial back into place and reattach any other pieces that you removed during disassembly.
